Cardiac Function Testing Center(CFTC) of Fu Wai Hospital, Chinese Academy Of Medical Sciences is one of the largest heart function testing center in China. It was founded by combining several clinical testing sections in April 2003. Present director of the center is Professor Pihua Fang who is a specialist in cardiac pacing and clinical electrophysiology. The main role of the center is to supply the whole heart function testing service for the cardiovascular patients and doctors for prompt and accurate diagnosis.

 

The cardiac function testing contents in the center include normal 12-lead ECG, ambulatory ECG (Holter), trans-telephone ECG monitoring, magnetocardiography, treadmill test, tilt table test, pulmonary function testing and blood Gas analysis, which almost cover the most of heart function testing techniques in Fu Wai Hospital. Therefore the cardiac function testing center is an important division to serve patients. Since the center was founded, all staff has been making efforts to optimize working flow, to shorten appointment and waiting time and to improve service. These measures have made patients more convenient ,comfortable and happier.

 

The center has a lot of advanced and expensive testing equipments (more than ten million RMB Yuan) including:

 

a: 10 Holter analysis workstation, 120 Holter recorders manufactured by American Del Mar company and Mortara company respectively.

b: 3 Treadmill testing equipments manufactured by American Mortara.

c: 2 MAGECART Electrocardiography carts manufactured by Simens company and 5 MARQUETTE 5000 Electrocardiography carts manufactured by American GE company.

d: 1 set of trans-telephone ECG monitoring system manufactured by Germany TMS company.

e:  1  Magnetocardiography system manufactured by Germany Squid

f: 1 Germany Jaeger Pulmonary Function Testing System and 1 Radiometer Copenhagen Blood Gas Analysis System.

 

The staff of the center consists of 35 professors, associate professors ,attending doctors and senior technicians. The number of patients for resting 12 lead ECG  is more than 180 thousands per year, Holter testing  25 thousands per year, Treadmill examination 10 thousands per year, pulmonary function testing 3 thousands, blood gas  analysis  14 thousands respectively. These numbers do¡¡are  great and striking for single cardiovascular hospital in the world.

 

CFTC  is a biggest training base for Chinese noninvasive diagnostic physician and senior technicians. It has a capacity to train 20~40 fellows from other hospitals nationwide per year. Furthermore It provides services for clinical research projects of other departments every year and itself has several state-level projects at moment.

 

CFTC will always insist on its goals that are to serve patients wholeheartedly, to meet the clinical needs unconditionally, to improve service quality endlessly, to increase testing items successively according to clinical request, and to promote combination of clinical testing with scientific research. All staff will make an effort to contribute their energy in order to fulfill Fu Wai hospital¡¯s great blueprint that Fu Wai hospital should be top-ranking in every aspect including medical service, medical techniques, staff quality, hospital size and management.
