This center was established in 2003 and was based from Pulmonary Heart Disease Research Department founded in 1972. It is famous for its originality in treatment of pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension and right heart diseases.

 

The center is a leading authority on diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary vascular disease in China, and is comparable to international level in some fields. It made diagnosis for the first case of pulmonary embolism in 1974, developed thrombolytic treatment for the first case of acute pulmonary embolism in 1990, firstly developed the national multicenter clinical trials on pulmonary embolism from 1997 to 1999, and made great contributions in the treatment of pulmonary vascular diseases.

 

The center has undertaken many national research programs and has won many national prizes with many publications and monographs in recent years.
